July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as BIPOC Mental Health Month. This month recognizes the unique strengths, experiences, and challenges that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities may encounter when it comes to mental health and accessing care.

At Family Service Rochester (FSR), we believe that everyone deserves mental health care that is respectful, culturally responsive, and accessible.

Culture, ethnicity, and race all play a significant role in the way each person experiences the world and in the types of mental health support they may need. When individuals feel understood, respected, and able to receive care that honors their cultural background, values, and preferred language, they are better positioned to build trust, engage in treatment, and work toward healing.

We're Here to Help

FSR is committed to increasing access to mental health services for our diverse community. We offer:

  • BIPOC therapists available for clients who would like to work with someone who shares aspects of their lived experience or cultural background.
  • Mental health services available in:
    • Spanish
    • Arabic
    • Somali
    • Portuguese
  • Outpatient, School-Based Mental Health, and Family-Based (In-Home) services for children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Whether you're reaching out for yourself, your child, or your family, we'll work with you to connect you with a therapist who best meets your needs and preferences whenever possible. At Family Service Rochester, we recognize that culturally responsive care is not one-size-fits-all. We strive to create an environment where every individual and family feels welcomed, respected, and supported throughout their mental health journey.
