Family Service Rochester is proud to recognize Pege Jennings for her extraordinary commitment to volunteerism and the joy she brings to everyone she serves.

After experiencing the loss of both her husband and brother last year, Pege has leaned into her belief that “friends are the family you choose for yourself.” Though she never had children, Pege has built a strong circle of long-time friends she met while serving as director of Channel One—people who continue to enrich and bless her life.

In addition to walking, reading, and quilting, Pege bakes over 6,000 cookies each year—just to give away—and volunteers with her church and numerous local organizations. She has made a lasting impact in diverse settings, from a men’s medium/maximum prison in South Carolina to starting 10 Girl Scout troops and a Cub Scout pack in public housing. What drives her is simple: the joy of connection and the ability to bring a moment of light into someone’s life.
