Volunteer Spotlight: Jon Pelto

Jon enjoys spending time with his large family, which includes his dad and stepmom, three brothers, three sisters-in-law, and two nephews. Family has always been an important part of his life, especially growing up with a mom who came from a family of 22 children. In his free time, Jon enjoys shopping, volunteering, and watching TV.

Jon volunteers because he likes giving back to the community and helping others in a meaningful way. One of the things he enjoys most about volunteering is delivering Meals on Wheels so people do not have to go out and get groceries themselves. He says the experience is rewarding, especially when people tell him he is doing a good job.

Through his time volunteering, Jon has learned that helping others can also be fun. Hiawatha Homes staff support Jon in his volunteering to help encourage his involvement in the community. His positive attitude and willingness to serve help make a difference in the lives of those in the community every day.
