For the past year, high school senior Dominick Nowakowski has been volunteering with Family Service Rochester.

Dominick partnered with FSR supporting older adults in roles such as friendly visiting, recruiting student snow shovelers, organizing a "Secret Santa for Seniors", and creating a "Spring into Action" initiative that used grant money Dominick was awarded to buy and plant flowers for FSR's senior consumers.

Dominick shared, "Last year we did a project called 'Be a Santa to a Senior'. I recruited high school students from Century, John Marshall, Lourdes, Mayo, and parishioners from St. John's. Together with Mrs. Loeffler, we prepared gifts for FSR seniors (and their pets) who could use some love over Christmas. The gifts were delivered on Christmas Eve (the seniors didn't know they were coming). The responses from the seniors were unexpected but so rewarding to hear. One senior shared that this was the first time in 12 years since the death of her daughter that she had felt blessed and loved."
