Volunteer Spotlight: Cameron Mullen
Family Service Rochester is proud to recognize Cameron Mullen as our Volunteer of the Month. Originally from Caledonia, MN, and having attended high school in Plainview, MN, Cameron has made Rochester his home and embraced the community with open arms. Cameron comes from a family of two brothers, a niece, and an eagerly awaited nephew due in December. In his free time, Cameron enjoys landscaping, writing poetry, puzzling, and going for drives. Beyond his involvement with FSR, Cameron serves on the Rochester Pride Board of Directors and is an active member of the Kutzky Park Neighborhood Association.
Cameron’s passion for volunteering stems from his desire to build and foster a strong sense of community. "Volunteering allows me to connect with new people and contribute to the growth of community both in myself and others," Cameron shared. This sense of belonging is something he works toward not only for himself but for those he serves, always striving to make a difference in the lives of others.
What brings Cameron the most joy in volunteering is contributing to the restoration of hope and connection. As someone who didn’t grow up in Rochester, he understands the challenges of finding a sense of belonging. Cameron finds fulfillment in helping others build that same connection, which energizes his own hope, humanity, and compassion.
Cameron has learned that people don’t expect perfection and that even small contributions can make a big difference. He’s also been reminded of the importance of having more volunteers to support the growing needs of the community.
Cameron’s dedication and passion for helping others have made him an invaluable part of our volunteer team, and we are honored to spotlight his contributions this month!
