Volunteer Spotlight: Bob and Vicki Barnhart
We are honored to spotlight Bob and Vicki Barnhart this June for their heartfelt dedication and service to Family Service Rochester.
Bob and Vicki are proud parents of three sons—two of whom are founders and presidents of their own companies, while the third has dedicated his life to ministry as a pastor in an Evangelical Free Church. Vicki served the community for a decade as the Administrator of Companion Counseling Center in Rochester. Bob has even brought joy through window washing, once taking on the challenge of cleaning all 355 windows at Ironwood Christian Ranch!
When asked why they volunteer, Bob shared their inspiration comes from the example of Jesus, who "went about doing good." They aim to reflect that spirit through acts of kindness and service to others.
A memorable moment in their volunteer journey has been delivering Meals on Wheels. Bob and Vicki take joy in not only providing nourishment but also offering a few moments of connection to those they visit—because, as Bob notes, “most of us do not like to eat alone.”
What brings them the most joy in volunteering is being part of an organization whose “heartbeat” is to show kindness and offer practical assistance to those struggling in life.
If there’s one word that sums up what they’ve learned through their service, it’s gratitude—a value they live out not just during the holidays, but every day of the year.
