Suicide Awareness Month 2025
Suicide Awareness Month is a a call to notice, to connect, and above all, to act. Though for too many, silence surrounds mental health struggles, this month offers a vital reminder: you matter, and help is always within reach.
In 2019, suicide ranked as Olmsted County’s seventh leading cause of death, and markedly, the second leading cause among people aged 25–44. These statistics reflect lives, families, and futures altered. Amid these stark realities, there's hope: a growing network of community organizations working tirelessly to turn awareness into healing.
This month, FSR amplifies its commitment: offering accessible mental health counseling—both in person and via telehealth—with sliding-fee options and a team proficient in trauma-informed approaches. In 2023 alone, they served hundreds through outpatient, family-based, and school-based therapy, delivering thousands of hours of care to those in need..
Meanwhile, Olmsted County residents are reminded that 988 is a lifeline—available 24/7 via call or text—for anyone in crisis. The Southeast Regional Crisis Center in Rochester is open around the clock for walk-in mental health support. NAMI Southeast Minnesota offer support groups and peer networks.
