Thea Hofstad, MA, LPPC is a Senior Therapist at FSR providing outpatient services. Also, through a recent grant, she is able to offer in-home counseling to clients aged 60 and older—many of whom are existing clients or are already receiving other aging services.

Thea grew up in Zumbrota, Minnesota, and graduated from Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School. Initially intending to pursue nursing, she discovered a passion for psychology during her undergraduate studies at Saint Mary’s University, where she later completed her master’s degree.

In 2019, upon the recommendation of a friend, Thea joined FSR as a CIBS (Collaborative Intensive Bridging Services) therapist later transitioning to outpatient therapy.

Thea values the structure and supports that FSR provides for both new and experienced clinicians. “FSR had confidence in me before I had confidence in myself,” she says. She highlights the organization’s commitment to professional growth, including free clinical supervision, a strengths-based culture, and open access to leadership. “As a new therapist, that kind of support was invaluable. It really broke down silos and helped me grow quickly.” This fall, she will begin coursework to become a clinical supervisor, further expanding her ability to support the next generation of mental health professionals.

Beyond her individual work with clients, Thea is active in FSR’s internal workgroups, which focus on improving organizational practices and supporting staff. She appreciates that leadership seeks and values staff input, creating a culture where team members feel heard and empowered. “FSR invests in people—not just as professionals, but as individuals. They really get to know you and offer training and leadership opportunities that align with your goals.”
