Tucked between King Court, Neville Court, and 8 1/2 Street in Southeast Rochester, you’ll find the Homestead Trails neighborhood. Like most neighborhoods, there are mature trees, a mix of townhomes and single-family homes, and a park nearby. This small territory also boasts numerous neighbors willing to lend a hand.

The Homestead Trails Neighborhood Association focuses on neighborhood improvement, social gatherings, and safety. In the spring and summer, neighbors work together on a neighborhood garden. Their helping hands extend beyond their neighborhood to Family Service Rochester’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors program. These volunteers contribute across a wide range of activities, including snow removal, lawn mowing, seasonal yard cleanup, Meals on Wheels delivery, FSR Fresh delivery, transportation, card making, and handiwork home repairs. Neighbors truly demonstrate the mission of NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS where ever they are needed.

Jeff, residing in Homestead Trails for the last 16 years, talks modestly about his volunteer work while volunteering for a local hospice and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. “It’s about giving back. There’s a lot of good being done by a lot of people.” Community service and community action are important to the Marine Veteran. “We’re not in this alone,” Jeff explained, speaking to the importance of giving for the good of others.
