Front Desk/Program Aide supports functions of FSR South office front desk and Senior Independence programs including Senior Café. Provide welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for guests, consumers, and callers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1.Provide atmosphere that is welcoming and inviting to elders of many nationalities and language groups.
2.Accurately complete and submit all electronic and hard copy documentation.
3.Recruit a diverse mix of volunteers for dining program. Train volunteers in dining program activities and time tracking.
4.Assure compliance with program requirements (program eligibility, consumer tracking, site accessibility, confidentiality, etc.).
5.Assist with program promotion and consumer recruitment.
6.Assist with dining operations at FSR building (meal ticket purchases, daily reconciling of meals and diners, dining set-up, serving, clean-up, etc.)
1.In a caring and welcoming manner greet and direct visitors (in-person, on phone).
2.Prepare in/outgoing mail and items for main office.
3.Complete required documentation to support Senior Independence.
4.Communicate with volunteers and consumers as directed.
5.Assist with achieving Senior Independence and FSR goals and mission.
Other duties and responsibilities:
1.Attend staff meetings/trainings as directed.
2.Work a schedule that is responsive to program needs. Willingness and ability to work additional time if needed to meet critical deadlines.
3.Complete other duties as assigned.
No direct supervisory responsibility
Training and Experience:
High school diploma/degree plus 4+ years relevant experience as set forth in the essential functions of the position. Experience with and understanding of older adults, Somali and other cultures, and volunteer management preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Individual must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and welcoming; moderate computer skills that include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; professional phone skills; skilled in recruiting and training volunteers; create a dining atmosphere that older adults from many ethnic and language groups find welcoming and inviting.
English, Somali, Spanish language skills desired. Ability to recruit dining participants and volunteers to support program. Valid driver license.
Must be able to regularly talk, hear, sit, stand, bend, lift up to 25 lbs. repeatedly during shift, and perform keystrokes to enter data with reasonable speed to ensure work is completed in timely manner. Requires physical ability to routinely handle normal office materials and tools including frequent filing, lifting and reaching; ability to move throughout office areas to complete work assignments. Must be able to regularly meet and talk with people from the community.
Regular exposure to normal office environments. Regular operation of dishwasher and dining room clean-up. Regular exposure to seasonal weather changes and driving/road conditions.
